Novel Study
This week, students continued with their novel study final projects. These projects are coming together very well! Students are showcasing creativity and a deep level of understanding of the novel with their final products. Next week, we will add the finishing touches to these projects.
Math
This week we began our measurement unit. We focused on units of measurements- including centimetres, millimetres and metres, as well as converting units of measurement. Next week, we will focus on kilometres and perimeter.
Social Studies
In grade 5 social studies, we wrapped our study on the 6 Regions of Canada. Next week, we will begin our project work for all of these regions. Students will have an opportunity to either create a magazine cover, a pamphlet, a poster or an ebook for all 6 Regions of Canada.
In grade 6 social studies, students learned about the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedom and why it is important. Students focused on Fundamental Freedom, Democratic Rights, Mobility Rights, Legal Rights, Equality Rights, Official Languages of Canada, Minority Languages of Canada, Canada's Multicultural Heritage and Aboriginal People's Rights. Next week, we will focus on Canadian Rights and Canadian Responsibilities.
Art
This week, we had a very special visitor in our classroom, Ms. Monica, a parent volunteer. Students had an opportunity to create a 'Christmas Car' using oil pastels and watercolour paint.
Here are a few pictures from our week at school:
